B.C. reports 336 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths

B.C. health officials reported 336 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 351,751 cases.
Of the new cases, 49 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 65 in the Fraser Health region, 53 in the Island Health region, 115 in the Interior Health region, 54 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
According to the latest local data, cases in Richmond increased slightly to 50 last week (Feb. 27 to March 5), up from 42 the previous week (Feb. 20 to 26).
There are 388 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 52 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,393,545 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,316,745 of those are second doses and 2,613,270 are third doses.
This means that 93.7 per cent of adults, 93.3 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.7 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.3 per cent of adults, 90.9 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 86.6 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 58.3 per cent of adults and 56.4 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
Sadly, there were four new COVID-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,932. One reported death was removed from the total due to a data correction, according to a B.C. government news release. Of those who died since yesterday, three lived in the Fraser Health region and one in the Interior Health region.
Health authorities reported one new health-care facility outbreak and declared two over. Active outbreaks continue at 12 long-term care facilities, one assisted or independent living facility, and one acute care facility.
From March 2 to 8, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 18.0 per cent of cases. From Feb. 23 to March 8, they accounted for 29.0 per cent of hospitalizations.
